Your gift today can help take on Big Ag and save manatees.
John,
I wanted to make sure you saw my email below. Last year, over 1,000 manatees died because toxic algae destroyed the seagrass that they feed on.
Big Ag's factory farms produce so much waste that they apply it to land in quantities that exceed the soil’s ability to absorb it as fertilizer. And the runoff from excess waste triggers algae blooms that block the sunlight that seagrass and other aquatic vegetation need to survive.

Big Ag's pollution continues to damage and pollute U.S. waterways. The waste from Big Ag fuels the toxic algae blooms that poison wildlife and destroy their food supplies. This can’t continue. That’s why Food & Water Watch is fighting back against Big Ag. Join our fight by donating today.
State and local officials have dismantled clean water and environmental protections, allowing Big Ag to dump more waste (including fertilizer and manure that feed toxic blooms) in our waterways!
Last year, over 1,000 manatees died because toxic algae destroyed the seagrass that they feed on.To protect our waterways and save their wildlife, we need to fight Big Ag's pollution by protecting environment laws. And to do that, we need your help.
Big Ag is the largest polluter of U.S. waterways, on account of fertilizer runoff from large-scale farms. Small, diversified farms use manure as fertilizer without polluting our waterways. But factory farms produce so much waste that it must be applied to land in quantities that exceed the soil’s ability to absorb it as fertilizer. And the runoff from excess waste triggers algae blooms that block the sunlight seagrass and other aquatic vegetation needed to survive.
But instead of enforcing the Clean Water Act to protect waterways and the animals that depend on them, the Environmental Protection Agency gave Big Ag a blank check to pollute. Big Ag's pollution has gone unchecked and unpunished for years, so Food & Water Watch is fighting to change this by advocating for more sustainable food production and tighter regulations.
Food & Water Watch and its affiliated organization, Food & Water Action, are advocacy groups with a common mission to protect our food, water and climate.
