Hi John,

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, we’re embracing the season of love by spotlighting one of our favorite couples: mifepristone and misoprostol! Together this pair, which make up a medication abortion, provides a safe and effective way to end a pregnancy. What’s not to love?

Self-Care

Self-care is an intentional practice that roots us in the present despite the oppression we may face. Regular self-care is essential for sustainable and effective activism.

Here are our self-care tips for February:

  1. DIY face masks FTW! Of course, you can buy all sorts of premade face masks, but making them yourself is cheaper and the process of creating, using, and seeing the results can add to the positive effects. You can find DIY face masks for any type of skin needs with a quick online search. This is also a great group activity you can do with others in person or virtually! -Eva, senior outreach producer based in Columbia, Missouri.
  2. Get creative in the kitchen! Last week, I cooked with purple sweet potatoes for the first time. Aside from being my favorite color, it was fun taking a lot of one vegetable (5 lbs!) and finding all the different ways I could incorporate it into foods I love. We cooked and puréed them to make purple sweet potato pie, cocktails, pancakes, and soon, the last bits of the batch will become doughnuts! -Shireen, deputy director based in Washington, D.C.
  3. Pause. In our busy world, it’s so important that we take conscious time to pause throughout the day. Not sure where to start? If you’re just getting started, a box breathing exercise is a great place to start. Feeling adventurous? Try this 10-minute meditation. -Caitlin, outreach and culture manager based in Alexandria, Virginia.

See you next month!

In Solidarity,

Erin, Shireen, Audrey, Caitlin, Elizabeth, Evonnia, Jessica, Kara, Nataley, Tenaja, and the Reproaction team
