Susie's college graduation photo

Yep, that’s me! This photo of me at my college graduation brings back so many memories.

I know how valuable and necessary a quality public education is to set our children up for success. I also know that Southern Nevada is dealing with overcrowded classrooms and underpaid teachers — which limits our kids’ opportunities for success.

I want to tell you why strengthening our public education system is so important to me, but first, will you support my re-election campaign by making a contribution?

I grew up as one of eight siblings in a big, working-class family.

My parents enrolled us in as many after-school activities as possible. From Girl Scouts to competitive swimming, I learned firsthand how instrumental education and after-school programming are in setting children up for success.

It’s because of this experience that, as an adult, I worked to improve public education and create more opportunities for children to become involved in sports. I founded the After-School All-Stars program and served as President of Communities in Schools — an organization dedicated to lowering drop-out rates.

In Congress, I’ve fought for our students: I introduced the Keep Our Promise to America’s Children and Teachers (PACT) Act to fully fund Title I and special education, as well as an amendment to the Rebuild America’s Schools Act to address overcrowding in K-12 classrooms.

I’m going to keep fighting for a stronger, more equitable public education system in Nevada — one where your zip code won’t determine the quality of your child’s school or how much their teachers are paid.

Will you chip in to my campaign and help me ensure every child in Nevada has access to a quality education?
