News from Representative Allred

February 10, 2022

Dear Friend,

Earlier this week, Congress came together and made progress in an area that affects our daily lives. I proudly helped pass the bipartisan Postal Service Reform Act to strengthen and sustain the U.S. Postal Service (USPS). Millions of North Texans depend on the USPS not only for deliveries from online shopping, but for essentials like paychecks, medication and their Social Security benefits. The Postal Service Reform Act will implement changes designed to shore up the agency’s finances over the long term, and ensure that the Postal Service can continue to operate for generations to come.

Rep. Allred visits the Dallas Postal Distribution Center to learn how he can better support the USPS in Congress.

I have been leading the bipartisan charge in Congress to strengthen the Postal Service. Provisions from my bill, the USPS Fairness Act, are included in the bill and will remove burdensome and unnecessary requirements that the Postal Service pre-fund retiree benefits, which will save $27 billion over 10 years and help keep the agency afloat. I also voted against harmful changes to the USPS that were enacted by the former president’s appointed Postmaster.

The USPS, and its workers who make sure the mail is delivered, are a foundational part of our economy that touches nearly every aspect of American life and we must do all we can to strengthen it. I am glad that Congress was able to find common ground and I will keep working to get this essential legislation to the President’s desk and signed into law.

If you are having issues related to your mail service, my team of constituent advocates may be able to help. We have helped a number of North Texans resolve issues with the USPS. Please give my office a call at (972) 972-7949 if you need assistance with the USPS, or any other federal agency.

Sincerely,
