Last week the Republican National Committee censured [[link removed]] Illinois Congressman Adam Kinzinger and Wyoming Congresswoman Liz Cheney because they “…are participating in a Democrat-led persecution of ordinary citizens engaged in legitimate political discourse. ”
The “ordinary citizens” being persecuted are the perpetrators of the January 6 attack on the Capitol; the “legitimate political discourse” resulted in at least 5 deaths and more than 140 injured members of law enforcement who bravely stood in their way.
That “legitimate political discourse” included breaking windows, shattering doors, parading in the halls with Confederate flags and wearing Nazi symbols…even defecating on the Capitol floor and stealing Speaker Pelosi’s laptop.
These “ordinary citizens” constructed a gallows and called for Mike Pence to be hanged for not executing the coup that the January 6 Committee and the legitimate media is now bringing to light. FACTS that the Trumpified part of the Republican Party is desperate to keep hidden.
…And Kinzinger and Cheney are spoiling that coverup.
A coverup that proceeds even as Mike Pence – speaking the same day as the RNC rebuke- called January 6, 2021 a “dark day” in the nation’s history and asserted that Trump was wrong to try to “overturn the election” – Trump’s very words from a week earlier.
And a coverup of the coup attempt that Andy Harris was likely at the heart of, along with his fellow travelers on the ill-named “Freedom Caucus.” His colleagues on that “illustrious” crew include Mo Brooks (who wore body armor while riling up the January 6 crowd) and Ohio’s Jim Jordan and Pennsylvania’s Scott Perry, both of whom have refused to speak to the January 6 Select Committee.
Jordan, Perry, and Andy Harris were among the 147 Republican members of Congress who voted to reject the election results. Results that were upheld in 60 court cases and by Republican Secretaries of State. Results that Chris Krebs, Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency in Trump’s Department of Homeland Security called "the most secure in American history," and results that Attorney General Bill Barr vouched for.
Andy Harris didn’t care to look at the evidence. Andy Harris only cared about keeping Trump and his party in power. Harris was involved in an "altercation" [[link removed]] in reaction to Pennsylvania Rep. Conor Lamb’s objection to Republican efforts to nullify his state’s (Pennsylvania) votes.
As Representative Lamb put it:
“We know that that attack today didn’t materialize out of nowhere. It was inspired by lies — the same lies that you’re hearing in this room tonight. The members who are repeating those lies should be ashamed of themselves. Their constituents should be ashamed of them.”

This November constituents in Maryland’s 1st Congressional District will have a chance to show Harris how outraged they are at his attempts to smother democracy, and to replace him with someone who believes in democracy and the rule of law.
Dave Harden – who worked for years to help build democracy abroad as a member of the US Agency for International Development – is that man. Help us elect him by donating to his campaign today. [[link removed]]
