Lately, I haven't been talking about Mike Garcia much – you all know by now exactly how awful he's been for this district – but last week, he did something that I could not believe (but should have).
You might have seen last week the GOP declared that the January 6th deadly attack on our nation's Capital was "legitimate political discourse" and voted to censure Rep. Liz Cheney and Rep. Adam Kinzinger for speaking the truth about the attempted insurrection.
This is what our own Mike Garcia had to say about it:
“We need to move on from that whole discussion [Jan. 6th] and, frankly, move forward and get the House back in 2022.”
Mike Garcia and the RNC may want to conveniently move on, but I have a few questions for him:
Mike, does this look like "legitimate political discourse" to you?
And what do you think the people of CA-27 would call this?
Is this how you think the American people should express their grievances?
While Mike Garcia and his insurrectionist-apologist allies would rather sweep the horrors of Jan. 6th under the rug, we're not going to let them. We're not going to allow Republicans to ignore the fact that five lives were taken that day, that the destruction of the riots caused over $1.5 million in damages to the halls of democracy, and that Capitol police are still suffering PTSD from the violence they witnessed that day.
We're not going to allow them to spread Trump's vitriolic lies at the expense of our democracy.
John, the Republican party calling the Jan. 6th attempted coup "legitimate political discourse" is flat out dangerous. Not only does it incentivize further violence, it jeopardizes the highest ideal of our democracy – a peaceful transition of power.
Mike isn't the moderate he claims to be. We must get Mike Garcia out. We already knew he was unfit to represent this district, now it's clear he is too extreme.
