Dear Colorado Republicans,

The Douglas County School Board has been in the news lately, and I want to make sure you have the real facts. The teachers' union is trying desperately to interfere with the conservative majority on the board. The teachers' union is trying to prevent teachers from getting higher salaries, parents from being heard, and kids from being in school.

This is unacceptable.

A recent poll in Colorado showed that the favorability rating of teachers' unions has dropped over 22% in two years. The union's current net favorability is at negative 0.6% in Colorado -- and with good reason.

During COVID, the teachers' union proved they aren't out to fight for our children. They haven't acted in the best interests of kids -- or teachers.

As Republicans, we believe teachers deserve higher salaries. We believe more dollars should go straight to the classroom -- not to bureaucracies and not to the unions who shut out parents and kids. 76% of Coloradans agree with us that parents should have some say over the curriculum in schools.

Watch this video where the teachers' union exposes their real goal in creating chaos in Douglas County: to gain power.

The teachers' union is lying about the conservative majority on the Douglas County School Board, simply to gain power for themselves while they push parents, teachers, and kids aside. It is false that any law was broken by the conservative majority. It is false that the equity policy has been changed. It is false that the "sickout" was based on the board letting the Superintendent go.

Here's the truth: The conservative majority on the Douglas County School Board is working to increase teacher pay, keep kids in school, and give parents a voice. They promised to do each of these things when they ran for election, and they are delivering on their promises.

Instead of working together to pay teachers more and give kids a good education, the teachers' union has waged a partisan, political war against the board majority for the sole purpose of gaining power.

Any parent should be rightfully angry that the union is -- once again -- taking advantage of parents and teachers and using children as pawns in their scheme to take power back.

Our children need to be in school. Our parents need to have a voice. Our teachers need to have better, higher pay.

The teachers' union needs to back off and stop interfering with the good work being done in Douglas County.

You can read a full explanation of the facts behind this situation from a DougCo parent here. You can also listen to Board President Mike Peterson explain the facts on KOA with Mandy Connell here. ([link removed])

Thanks for standing with our conservative majority on the Douglas County School Board.
