John,

On behalf of TFN, today I am proud to announce our endorsement in an important election for the Texas House.

For House District 142, in the March 1 Democratic primary, TFN backs Candis Houston in her bid to become your next state rep.

At a time when our state legislature has taken a frightening turn to the right, we need representatives like Houston who will faithfully defend our progressive values. We need someone to defend the rights of the LGBTQ community, support reproductive justice and work to fix urgent problems, like securing our vulnerable power grid.

And at a time when our neighborhood public schools are under attack and classroom lessons are censored, Houston's extensive experience as an educator and as president of the Aldine chapter of the American Federation of Teachers make her a uniquely qualified public education advocate.

You may not live in this House district, but there are other ways to support Houston even if you can't vote for her. Visit her website at candishouston.com [[link removed]] for more information.

Every election is important, don't sit any of them out. Grab an ID and vote in the March primary and in the general election in November.

In the fight,
