California’s COVID-19 death toll surpassed 80,000 this week.

When we keep seeing numbers and statistics, it’s difficult to humanize the impact this pandemic has caused. But the truth is thousands of families lost their loved ones, including mine.

I lost two parents to this pandemic. And the truth is, the irresponsible actions by many members of Congress to downplay COVID-19 is one of the many reasons so many lives have been lost. Their behavior is disgusting. The misinformation that is being spread is killing people and little has been done to push back. There will be future pandemics, and we must be ready.

I’m extremely worried about the future of our Congress. Anti-vaxxers who downplay COVID-19’s effects on human lives are running for office throughout the country, and we need to make sure that they do not flip Congress. I’m running to protect our majority, and will do everything within my ability as a member of Congress to ensure that healthcare and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic response are top priorities in Congress.
