A Note from Chrissy

Can you believe January is over already? As usual, last month was filled to the brim, and I want to take a moment to let you know what I’ve been up to. From a trip to Ukraine as part of my duties on the House Foreign Affairs Committee to infrastructure and more, it’s been busy. Here’s what you need to know:

MSNBC
Rep. Houlahan: If Ukraine tips, so could ‘the rest of that area and possibly the continent’

As a member of both the House Foreign Affairs and Armed Services committees, it is my responsibility to conduct oversight on matters of national security. Last month, along with a bipartisan group of colleagues from the House Foreign Affairs Committee, I made a trip to Ukraine to better understand the situation as we consider how best to respond. After my trip, I spoke to CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News about what is at stake and why every American should care that Ukrainian democracy is under threat.

The Inquirer
Rep. Houlahan: My father survived the Holocaust by a miracle. It shouldn’t take a miracle to be Jewish and alive.

In January, my family and I celebrated my father’s 80th birthday. Midway through the party, I received a text about the gunman at the synagogue in Colleyville, Texas. This was a lot to process – especially at this event, as my father himself is a Holocaust survivor.

Being Jewish and alive should not be a miracle.

I reflected more on the past, present, and future of antisemitism – and how we ought to respond to instances of antisemitic violence – in an op-ed for The Inquirer.

From Capitol Hill
Rep. Houlahan’s team has returned more than $5 million to constituents

I know that government isn’t perfect, but I’m committed to doing everything possible to make it work for working people – which is why I’m especially proud of this milestone. My team of caseworkers has ensured that citizens of PA-06 have had more than $5 million returned to them from federal agencies, whether from income tax refunds, Social Security payments, military benefits, or more. This means that the government is working for you – and members of our community have the money in their pockets they deserve.

The Mercury
Officials tout $1.6 billion in infrastructure fund for Pa. bridge projects
This month, I announced Pennsylvania’s $1.6 billion bridge investment from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, one of the highest bridge investments in the nation. On top of that, ChesCo hospitals just received $2.1 million to increase their inpatient capacity. These are the kinds of investments that our country will benefit from for years to come, and I know that my work to pass the landmark infrastructure bill will mean Pennsylvanians are safer and stronger.

That’s it for this month, but stay tuned for more updates on my fight for working families in the Commonwealth and across the nation.

And, while it's somewhat out of the ordinary in Washington, I take time every week to call back constituents who've contacted our office. These conversations keep me grounded in the most urgent issues facing our community. I’d love to hear from you, too!

There is work to be done.

– Chrissy

While Chrissy is focused on delivering progress in the House, we need to make sure she has the recourse to win the most competitive election of her career and be there next year, too. The GOP is already eyeing our critical battleground district – and amid Republican gerrymandering, the GOP has named Chrissy one of their top pickup targets. We must strengthen our resources early to make sure we can defend this purple district come 2022 – so we’re asking:

Will you make a donation to help reelect Chrissy to Congress? Your support will make such a difference in our work to defend this critical Pennsylvania seat and keep the House blue.
