I’m reaching out today to get some feedback about what’s been going on in Washington but first, I want to share some good news: [[link removed]]

I learned that Medicare beneficiaries were being left out of the plan to provide no-cost COVID tests to Americans with private insurance and Medicaid. I immediately reached out to the White House and President Biden to express my concern that leaving this vulnerable population out of our comprehensive testing strategy was a mistake.

I am proud to announce that Medicare will now cover 8 at-home, over-the-counter COVID tests per month at zero cost – just as it does for those with private insurance and Medicaid. This change will save lives and make all of us safer by preventing the spread of COVID. This is the work you elected me to do.

Now, the bad news. Congress is kicking the can down the road yet again to avoid the catastrophic threat of a government shutdown. Partisan obstruction has reached a level that prevents us from working together – putting every initiative that depends on federal funding at risk with another short-term fix.

Perhaps most disappointing is the fact that our communities cannot access the funding provided by transformational legislation like President Biden’s infrastructure plan until we pass a budget.

We cannot continue to operate this way.

Will you share your thoughts on Congress’ effort to keep the government open and pass a spending bill? It’s important to me to know how this impacts you, your family and your community. [[link removed]]
