Growing up, we were all raised to believe in an American Dream that actually comes true for those of us who work hard and never give up.

But if you describe the American Dream to a young person today, it sounds more fairytale than docuseries. They’re working multiple jobs just to keep a roof over their head (when they are not living with their parents). They are one medical emergency away from bankruptcy. They don’t know how to plan for a future that politicians have sold out to the highest bidder.

And that’s it, right?

Our elected representatives (Dems, Rs, & Everyone in Between) sold away the American Dream to corporations in exchange for money and power. But our future belongs to all of us!

I strongly believe that we need representatives in Congress who will fight for our right to happiness, prosperity, and opportunity. It’s time to say enough is enough to Wall Street-funded politicians.

This is unacceptable. We have the resources needed to solve our problems. We just need to elect representatives who will act with the urgency and bravery to enact change. We can win this fight. Our values have won in ballot boxes across the Midwest. When we come together — Black and brown, young and old, straight and gay — we can transform how our government works and who it works for.
