John,

Last week, the Republican National Committee (RNC) voted to censure two GOP lawmakers who condemned the Jan. 6 insurrection. In that same vote, they went on to declare the Jan 6th attack to be a form of "legitimate political discourse."

This is disgraceful, but it's what we've come to expect from today's GOP. It's no longer a party of ideas and policy, but a cult of personality around Trump that's completely divorced itself from reality.

Every single GOP member -- and each of my four Republican opponents -- should answer whether they agree with the RNC that the Jan. 6 attack constitutes “legitimate political discourse.” If they can't answer this basic question, they don't deserve to be in elected office.

Despite how debased today's GOP has become, my race will still be one of the most competitive House contests in the country. Redistricting has made CA-49 slightly more Republican and we need all hands on deck to communicate with new voters. Help fund our efforts by contributing $3 today.

Describing what happened on January 6 as anything but an insurrection to prevent a peaceful transfer of power is an outright lie. But don't just take it from me: last night, even Senator Mitch McConnell had the sense to come out and denounce the RNC's censure.

My opponents' silence on this speaks volumes. Voters deserve to know where they stand.

I hope for a response from each of them, but in the meantime, help us make sure CA-49 stays blue by chipping in $3 today.

Thank you,

Mike
