| Dear Friend, Dan Bongino had nearly one million YouTube followers when the platform permanently banned him last month for spreading COVID-19 disinformation.(1) But Bongino still has his own show on Fox News. So does Tucker Carlson, who incited his viewers to physically assault anyone trying to enforce mask wearing.(2) So does Jeanine Pirro, who told her viewers that the White House was using its vaccine initiative to confiscate guns.(3) Cable companies have a responsibility to stop Fox News from spreading misinformation that is a danger to public health. That’s why Courage California has joined former labor secretary Robert Reich, as well as Democracy for America and other progressive groups, to call on Comcast, Charter, and every other cable company to take Fox News off the air. An upsetting 57% of Fox News coverage about the coronavirus vaccine has included claims that undermined the importance or efficacy of immunization.(4) New polling shows that Fox News has the same level of trust from its viewers as NPR has from its listeners, making its impact devastating.(5) And it’s not just COVID-19 disinformation that’s a problem. An outrageous 82% of Fox News viewers believe the Big Lie, that the election was stolen from Donald Trump, which helped foment the January 6 attack on the Capitol and a wave of voter suppression bills throughout the country.(6) This is a campaign we can win, with enough grassroots energy, because we've done it before. Progressive groups and leaders successfully pressured YouTube to kick Dan Bongino off its platform, Facebook to permanently ban Alex Jones and his InfoWars show, Twitter to permanently suspend Trump, and DirecTV to drop One America Network.
