Circular Economy: A Lesser-Known Solution to Climate Action

However, nearly half of all emissions come from the production of everyday items, and nations need to produce enough resources for the world’s growing population. A circular economy can help by keeping products and materials in use longer, which would also reduce the emissions created by new material production. A New Approach to Make Ocean Management More Sustainable 

Human activities are putting a massive burden on the ocean and its ecosystems, leading it to become warmer, more acidic, less oxygenated and less habitable for marine life. To address this growing threat, the High Level Panel for a Sustainable Ocean Economy is developing and implementing sustainable ocean plans. How Public Incentives Can Help Restore Latin America’s Ecosystems 

Restoration in Latin America and the Caribbean represents a critical opportunity to benefit rural communities, store carbon dioxide and protect biodiversity. However, the region needs well-designed public incentives and subsidies to support farmers, forest managers and rural communities at the forefront of restoration. New research from WRI examines how six Latin American countries used public funding to reward communities for protecting and restoring trees and offers approaches for other governments to do the same.
