Erica Smith is a rising progressive star and there are lots of reasons
she'll be great in Congress, but with Roe vs. Wade at stake, one reason
will rise to the top for many people: Erica is the only pro-choice
candidate running for this newly-open North Carolina congressional seat.

MESSAGE FROM ERICA SMITH ABOUT ABORTION RIGHTS:

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Abortion is healthcare and
healthcare is a human right.

But right now, from Republican-led state legislatures to the U.S. Supreme
Court, our right to safe, legal abortion care is hanging in the balance.

It’s absolutely critical for Congress to enact federal protections for
reproductive healthcare and prevent immoral attacks on our constitutional
right to safe, legal abortion care like we’ve seen in Texas and
Mississippi.

I’m the ONLY pro-choice Democrat running for this competitive, wide-open
U.S. House seat in North Carolina’s 2nd District -- and I *promise* I will
proudly cast a YES vote to protect abortion access if elected.

Reproductive freedom is sacred, and our fight to protect it is deeply
personal to me.

I had my youngest son at 22 weeks. He was premature as a result of
preeclampsia and pregnancy-induced hypertension. At 16 weeks, my doctors
told me that if I continued my pregnancy I would be risking my own death.
And before his delivery, I had to decide on the priority of life.

Despite my infinite love for my children and family, I made the decision
for doctors to save my baby if they could not save us both. It was a
decision only I could make — no one else.

Now, I’m running for Congress to defend our right to make decisions over
our own bodies.

Roe is on the ballot this year, and we can’t afford to send anti-choice
representatives to Congress.
