Jack,

Today I am officially announcing that I am withdrawing from the race for United States Senate. This has been one of the most difficult decisions that I have ever had to make, but it was also one that had to be made.

Over these past few months, while criss-crossing the state of Arkansas, I have been working through a family health matter that was needing my increasing attention. As the days wore on, it became obvious to me that I was needed more at home with my loved ones and that I did not have the focus and energy necessary to devote to the campaign.

I cannot begin to tell you how much your support of our efforts has meant to me. I have been humbled by the thousands of people who joined us in fighting for a better Arkansas. You all are the true warriors in this campaign. Together, we created a strong grassroots movement, which I hope will continue the fight to change Washington for the better.

I am so grateful for having met so many of you on the campaign trail and it is with my most sincere gratitude that I leave you with.
