[link removed] [[link removed]]Dear John,
We are closer than we’ve ever been to passing the Equality Act in Congress. We only have one last hurdle before the LGBTQ+ community and our families are protected from discrimination in every aspect of our lives: getting the U.S. Senate to pass the Equality Act and send it to President Biden to sign into law.
The Equality Act would protect LGBTQ+ people from discrimination across the country while also expanding protections based on race and sex. To make sure Senators vote “yes,” the most powerful tool we have is our own stories.
That’s why Equality Federation is partnering with the Trans People of Color Coalition (TPOCC), Freedom for All Americans (FFAA), GLBTQ Legal Advocates & Defenders (GLAD), and the National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR) . Together, we are highlighting the personal stories and experiences of community members [[link removed]] left most vulnerable by a lack of federal nondiscrimination protections.
We’ve made significant progress, but LGBTQ+ people still face discrimination when looking for work, renting an apartment or buying a home, or doing day-to-day things like shopping for groceries or going to the bank. And that is often compounded for LGBTQ+ people of color. If you or someone you care about have experienced firsthand the impact of such discrimination or harassment, sharing your story now can help make a big difference.
Sign up for the Equality Act Story Project [[link removed]] , or share this project with your community, and help build an understanding of why we need to pass protections in this legislative session. We’ll contact you for an interview to hear about your personal experience, and together we’ll discuss potential ways to share your story, whether via a blog post, op-ed, or another media outlet.
Connect with the Story Project today. [[link removed]] Together, we can help pass protections across the country so that all of us can live with pride and dignity, no matter who we are or what community we call home.
Together,
