As an immigration and human rights attorney who was born and raised in Laredo, I’ve seen firsthand that the laws of this country weren’t written for everyone.
I’ve also seen that our current concerns have yet to be addressed by our current representative, Henry Cuellar.
When we called for a clearer pathway to citizenship for immigrants, Cuellar voted in favor of funding for Donald Trump’s border wall.
When we called for our reproductive rights to be protected from anti-choice politicians, Cuellar aligned himself with the GOP to block abortion rights.
And when we called for reform to make health care more accessible and affordable, Cuellar supported a Republican plan that would allow insurance companies to sell higher-priced plans to people who need extra care.
Now more than ever, we need a representative who will fight for all Americans — not just a select, wealthy few.
That’s why once I’m elected to Congress, I will fight nonstop to create a fair pathway to citizenship, protect reproductive freedom, and ensure that health care is treated as a human right, not a privilege.
But Henry Cuellar has a lot of wealthy corporate donors behind him who are funneling millions of dollars to help him get re-elected. So I’m relying 100% on grassroots donors to be able to compete with Henry Cuellar’s war chest.
