Friends, please join us this Friday at 1230pm ET for a newly updated version of acclaimed presentation, With Democrats Things Get Better (learn more, RSVP). Invite friends, colleagues, family – all are welcome to our Zoom-based live presentation.
The presentation is a 25-30 minute data-driven look at the performance of the two American political parties since the Cold War ended and a new age of globalization began. What it shows, clearly, is that when Democrats are in charge, things get better – the economy grows, jobs are created, wages go up, the number of uninsured go down. There is progress.
We learn, for example, that of the 42m new jobs created since 1989, 40m – 95% - have been created with Democrats in the White House.
With Republicans what we’ve gotten has been recessions, job loss, spiraling deficits, decline. Simply, during this time of rising global competition and challenge, the Republican Party has repeatedly failed to do its part, has repeatedly let America down. And we think this failure to contribute, to be an effective modern party in a new age, is critical to understanding the GOP’s descent into a dangerous reactionary MAGA mess that it is today (see this analysis).
As additional background, we strongly recommend David Leonhardt’s NYT essay "Why Are Republican Presidents So Bad for the Economy?" It makes arguments similar to With Dems and has lots of terrific and useful charts. Our recent discussion with noted economist Rob Shapiro, and his 2 recent essays on the Biden Boom, also provide useful context. Maria Cardona cites our research in her CNN column, as does David Rothkopf in this USA Today essay. Mike Tomasky’s rave review of With Dems in his Daily Beast column is a great read. Mike writes: “Simon Rosenberg heads NDN, a liberal think tank and advocacy organization. He has spent years advising Democrats, presidents included, on how to talk about economic matters. Not long ago, he put together a little PowerPoint deck. It is fascinating. You need to know about it. The entire country needs to know about it." We agree of course!
So join us on Friday for this compelling, live presentation about American politics. We promise you will come away uplifted, and ready to go out sign the praises of the Democrats, a political entity which has probably done more job for more people than any other organized political force in all of human history. Really? Big claim, sure – but we explain why it may be so in the presentation. So join us!
