John,

On Friday, the Republican National Committee voted to censure those in the party who have supported the investigation into the January 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol -- and it called the events of that day "legitimate political discourse."

It's impossible to overstate how alarming this is: a major political party just declared that an act of terror and insurrection is "legitimate political discourse."

The Republican Party as it stands today cannot be entrusted with a majority. They have shown that they will support any and all shredding of our democratic principles, so long as it gains them political power.

They'll support voter suppression. They'll spread conspiracy theories about the integrity of our elections. And they'll now even refuse to condemn a violent attack on our government.

Every race in 2022 is a battle to defend our democracy against the GOP's extremism, and that's especially true in VA-10. I'm facing a growing crowd of Republican challengers, many of whom are parroting the lies that led to an attempted insurrection. Will you pitch in to help me hold my seat in what's shaping up to be an increasingly competitive race?

A violent mob broke into the Capitol on January 6, 2021. They assaulted and injured dozens of police officers. They were prepared to take extreme measures to overturn the results of a free and fair election.

If the GOP thinks this counts as "legitimate political discourse," then I truly fear what happens should they gain back power and continue to advance their reckless rhetoric.

At this critical moment, I refuse to give up on our democracy. I will keep fighting for the right to vote, for elections to be free and fair, and for truth to win out over dangerous lies.

But I can't do that alone. I'm going to be facing my closest election yet this year, and if we don't get an early start, the Republicans will define the race.

So please: donate what you can to help me reach voters across my district and lay the groundwork to hold my seat. Our House majority depends on us keeping battleground districts like VA-10 blue.
