Urgent Update from the Washington Post: “Texas governor says ‘no one can guarantee’ there won’t be power outages in winter storm”

Millions of Texans lost power and hundreds died after the power grid failure during a major winter storm in 2021. This winter, Gov. Abbott PROMISED to keep the lights on. But instead of taking action to fix the grid and prevent another outage, he spent his time pushing the GOP’s extremist agenda. Now, Texans are facing another winter of severe storms, a faulty grid, and Abbott’s broken promise.

Team – what’s happening in Texas is downright scary.

First: Gov. Abbott’s corruption and failure to fix the power grid led to statewide blackouts in 2021, leaving more than 4 million Texas homes and businesses without power, water, and heat. The freezing temperatures and food and water shortages cost hundreds of Texans their lives.

Then: Abbott GUARANTEED Texas would keep the power on this winter. But instead of working to fix the power grid, he spent his time signing a series of extremist bills into law – including the most egregious abortion ban in the nation and a Jim Crow-era voter suppression bill.

Now: Winter storms are starting to hit Texas, and Abbott has already gone back on his promise, saying he can't guarantee lights will stay on.

Texans deserve a governor who will put their safety and wellbeing before partisan attacks. But right now, polls are showing O’Rourke and Abbott in a tight race. And if we’re going to stop Gov. Abbott’s dangerous reign, we need grassroots supporters like you on our team.
