This week the GOP censured my colleagues Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger. Liz, Adam and I disagree on a lot, but I’ve been incredibly impressed by their dedication (and bravery) to stand up against Donald Trump and the extremist forces within the Republican Party.

Liz and Adam see what we can all see: Trump and extremists like Marjorie Taylor Green aren’t just problems for Republicans, they are nuclear bombs for our democracy at large.

I take the rise of extremism and conspiracy theories like QAnon very seriously. I ran against a conspiracy theorist last cycle and saw firsthand how it damages trust in our political system, not just for that campaign cycle, but for years afterwards.

Words matter and the RNC calling January 6th “legitimate political discourse” is abhorrent.

Before voting this November, everyone should ask themselves, do they really believe Kevin McCarthy is going to do anything besides kowtow to Donald Trump and try to set him up for 2024? Are we going to get anything done while McCarthy is busy shutting down the January 6th Committee and impeaching Biden for… I don’t know, whatever they might come up with? We need to beat them this year to show that we’re united against their hate and division.
