On Friday, the Republican National Committee passed a resolution censuring Republicans Adam Kinzinger and Liz Cheney for, in the GOP’s words, “persecution of ordinary citizens engaged in legitimate political discourse.”

Censuring any Republican who is calling for accountability and truth is beyond the pale. But calling the actions of the people who participated in a violent insurrection, resulting in loss of life, assaulted police officers, and chants of “Hang Mike Pence!” as legitimate political discourse is reprehensible and erases the violence of that day.

The GOP is giving their stamp of approval of the political violence of January 6th. We can’t let them get away with this.
