[ [link removed] ]Tell the Senate: Stop the racist attacks on Biden's nominee! Sign the
petition.

Dear People For supporter,

Senator Elizabeth Warren recently noted that the Right Wing’s response to
President Biden’s intention to nominate a well-qualified Black woman to
the Supreme Court has moved from “racial dog whistles and gone directly to
racial sirens.”^[1] She couldn’t be more right.

Notably, their attacks are being thrown at a nominee who has not even been
named. The Right is so threatened by the thought of a highly qualified
Black woman with a demonstrated commitment to equality and justice for all
being named to our highest court they couldn’t even wait to hurl their
vitriol.

[ [link removed] ]Add your name to demand that every single Republican Senator reject
these racist and sexist attacks and vow to ensure a fair process for
considering the nomination of whoever President Biden selects to fill the
Supreme Court vacancy. >>

Senators Wicker (MS), Cruz (TX), and Hawley (MO) have all participated in
the vitriolic response but perhaps the most memorably outrageous was
Senator Kennedy (LA), who said: “I want a nominee who knows a law book
from a J.Crew catalog.”^[2]

Senator Kennedy, unfortunately, is just part a familiar pattern of attack
by the Far Right and their allies in the Senate against excellent,
well-qualified judicial nominees who are women of color. That’s why we’re
calling out their behavior right away.

[ [link removed] ]SIGN NOW to demand that every Republican Senator reject these vicious
attacks and commit to a fair process for considering the nomination of
whoever President Biden selects to fill the Supreme Court vacancy. >>

The Right’s behavior is as unsurprising as it is appalling. And the fact
that they are on the attack before a nominee has even been announced
speaks volumes about their priorities for this Supreme Court vacancy.
Every Republican in the Senate must commit to treating the prospective
nominee with fairness and respect.

Part of what is driving these attacks is the likelihood that President
Biden’s nominee will make it onto the Supreme Court regardless of the
Right’s racist insults. We cannot wait to celebrate the day that this
extremely qualified Black woman is confirmed to our highest court and
becomes a justice for all.

In solidarity,

– Sarah, Digital Campaigns Associate
