I often reach out to you to discuss my efforts to preserve the Chesapeake Bay, but today, I need to talk to you about a different precious natural resource.
I recently helped advance a plan to preserve the Grand Canyon by prohibiting mining claims on 1 million acres of public land surrounding the canyon. The Grand Canyon serves as the sole source of drinking water for many tribal communities, and local economies depend on it the same way Maryland’s economy depends on the Chesapeake Bay.
ADD YOUR NAME AND KEEP THE GRAND CANYON GRAND >>
My fight for environmental protections extends beyond Maryland, because threats to our environment are threats to all of us. I’m committed to protecting our environment wherever it needs protecting, and that’s why I’ve received strong endorsements from the League of Conservation Voters and the Sierra Club.
Addressing threats to our environment will require a widespread movement to shift public opinion and incite action. And that’s why I’m asking: Will you add your name and support my efforts to protect the Grand Canyon and our environment?
Your friend,
Dutch
