Let me explain. Here in Washington state, we have a "legislative session freeze" that keeps any state officials from fundraising in the 30 days before and then during the Washington state legislative session.

So while several of my opponents can raise as much as they can -- and while the Republican Governors Association can stockpile cash -- I'm not going to be able to raise a penny for my campaign. _Not a penny for nearly four months._

I won't sugarcoat it: It's pretty frustrating to think that Republicans can keep raking in cash to try to take back the governorship next year while our fundraising is frozen. We know that the Republican Governors Association has raised nearly $200 million already and has only three Democratic incumbents to target in 2020.

SO WHEN I ASK YOU TO MAKE A GRASSROOTS DONATION BEFORE THE FREEZE, IT'S BECAUSE IT REALLY MATTERS. WE'VE SET AN AMBITIOUS GOAL OF RAISING $25,000 BY THURSDAY AT MIDNIGHT: Will you donate $1 or more right now before the legislative freeze goes into effect?
