Friend,
Last night, CBS Evening News with Norah O'Donnell aired exclusive coverage of work that Volunteers of America is doing for veterans and others battling what is now called “moral injury.”
Army veteran, Titus Battle, from Brooklyn, NY, shared his moral injury story in the CBS News segment.
Volunteers of America's own Dr. Rita Brock, a leading expert on Moral Injury, was interviewed for the segment.
"PTSD is usually regarded as something based in fear, and moral injury is your conscience," Dr. Brock said. "You start to doubt yourself, doubt your values, doubt your society."
Dr. Brock developed a program through VOA called Resilience Strength Training, designed specifically for veterans.
It’s not just vets. First responders, caregivers, doctors, and nurses, among others, can have moral injury. By characterizing this kind of injury for veterans and others, we can understand it more deeply and know how to help the healing process.
You don't want to miss this!
Sincerely,
Volunteers of America
