Stand Up to Republican Inaction: Add your name
John: Whistleblowers are truth-tellers. They are people serving within our government who step forward and speak up if they are aware of misconduct. By doing so, they help us root out abuses in government and protect Americans everywhere. However, reporting misconduct often jeopardizes their careers and can even put their lives at risk.
As a result, U.S. leaders on both sides of the aisle have for years stood up and defended protections for whistleblowers — until now.
Too many Republicans who once supported whistleblower protections are suddenly silent or even defending the President as he rails against this whistleblower in tweets and at rallies.
When brave individuals come forward to report wrongdoing in our government, they are already risking a lot on behalf of their fellow citizens. They should not be subjected to more bullying or intimidation by elected officials, especially by the President of the United States. That is not leadership.
We must hold Republicans accountable. Add your name and join me in standing up to Republicans’ shameful inaction.
Thank you,
Tom
