Hi John – We’ve talked a lot about our nation’s child care crisis – especially since the pandemic put countless providers out of business. By now, I’m sure you know high-quality care is hard to come by and far too expensive in the U.S. So today, instead of facts, I’d like to focus on stories. Stories about parents like Lee, pictured above. He was eager to enroll 2-year-old Preston in Pre-K, but didn’t find many affordable options in their rural community. Stories about moms like Kassie, who worried she wouldn’t be able to keep her young children learning when COVID-19 forced child care centers to close in northern Arkansas. Stories about kids like 5-year-old Kevin, whose parents scrambled to find alternative care when his summer learning camp went virtual. John, there are so many stories like these – families paying out-of-pocket for temporary care, parents unable to return to work, children missing out on crucial early learning opportunities. Send a message to Congress: it’s time to pass the Build Back Better Act to give kids and families much-needed relief! This bill calls for life-changing investments in child care and early learning. The sooner it’s passed, the sooner millions of parents can return to the workforce and start saving thousands on high-quality care.
