February is Black History Month, and it’s a time to celebrate all of the outstanding strides that Black Americans have made here in this country.

It's also a time to recommit ourselves to the critical work of civil rights and remind ourselves of the challenges that still lie ahead.

While this country has made enormous progress in the wake of so much racism and institutionalized discrimination, I am reminded every day we still have ways to go to achieve true equality here in this country.

As we celebrate those who have moved our country forward in every way – the Black civil rights activists, the Black pioneers in science, education, and medicine, let us remember to uplift the trailblazers of today .
