John -
Today, the Supreme Court is hearing a case to decide the future of the Deferred Action for Child Arrivals program, also known as DACA.
Donald Trump and his administration have been trying to end the program and deport undocumented youth for over two years now. Despite broad support for undocumented youth, Congress has failed to act. My opponent Henry Cuellar even voted with Republicans to block DACA from being passed.
Our immigration system is broken, and I'm running because I will fight to fix it and protect immigrant families. In Congress, I'll work to protect undocumented youth and create a pathway to citizenship. I'll promote humane border policies, stop mass deportations and work to end family separation.
But I cannot do that alone. Congress has broadly agreed on the need to fix our broken immigration system, but nothing has been done. Our movement must make our voices heard and demand action.
Are you in this fight with me? Add your name to demand Congress protect undocumented youth and fix our broken immigration system. I'll need you behind me to win this race and to win this fight in Congress.

I became an immigration and human rights attorney because of my experience growing up in Laredo. My family's American Dream was made possible thanks to the 1986 immigration reform.
As you can imagine, being an immigration attorney under Trump has been a very difficult and heartbreaking experience. The odds are already stacked against you, but under the Trump administration, it just felt like it was almost impossible to win cases and keep families together.
Seeing how broken our laws are firsthand is part of what motivated me to run for Congress. In Washington, I'll fight to fix these laws and protect immigrant families, but I need you with me.
Add your name to demand Congress protect undocumented youth and fix our broken immigration system. Together we can win this race and then win this fight in Congress.
