I wanted to take a moment to write to you about my good friend and colleague from the state next door, Minnesota Senator Tina Smith.

Tina just won her special election last year, and she's up for re-election in 2020. She's the only Senate Democrat who has to run back-to-back like this — and hers is a must-win seat if Democrats want any chance at flipping the majority next year.

But Tina's race is going to be tough. Minnesota has been a top target for Republicans ever since Trump lost the state by just 1.5 points in 2016. He could win this time around. In fact, he won Wisconsin by less than one percentage point and our state gave him the White House.

All things equal to 2016, Trump can lose Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin, but if he wins Minnesota, he wins re-election. That’s the whole ballgame. But we can stop him if folks like you help my friend Tina right now.
