You deserve to know that your vote counts the same as any other, John.
That’s how our democracy is supposed to work — one person, one vote, where all of us have an equal say in our government.
But partisan gerrymandering tactics ensure that some votes count more than others. John, redistricting should not be used for partisan advantage.
Last week, the North Carolina Supreme Court ruled that the congressional and legislative maps drawn by Republican legislative leaders in Raleigh are an unconstitutional gerrymander.
A healthy democracy requires free and fair elections. That’s why I want North Carolina to establish a Nonpartisan Redistricting Commission to ensure that future legislative maps accurately reflect the political reality of our state and fairly represent all our people.

Here in North Carolina, the Republicans gerrymandered our district maps in 2010 and 2020 so blatantly that the maps got thrown out . It’s egregious partisanship on display for all to see, and we have to put an end to it.
