Today is #SaferInternetDay💻. We hand picked resources for you to support young people to stay safe online #TalkListenLearn
Hello John
I hope you're keeping well.
Today is Safer Internet Day, which we at NYCI are delighted to support. We all have a role to play in supporting young people to use the internet and digital technologies safely and positively. To mark the day, we've lots of useful resources and campaigns to share with you from some of the great organisations we've partnered with!

Developing Digital Media Literacy
Most recently, we teamed up with CyberSafeKids and Accenture to deliver a month-long course on Developing Digital Media Literacy ([link removed]) . You can read CyberSafeKids CEO Alex Cooney's opinion piece in today's Irish Examiner to see their call for support for young people with this ' ([link removed]) essential part of their lives' ([link removed]) .
Online Safety E-Learning Course
With our friends at Webwise we've developed an Online Safety and Awareness in Youth Work E-Learning course ([link removed]) to introduce youth workers and volunteers to key topics in online safety, and address challenges that young people may face online.

Webwise also has a campaign running calling on everyone to #TalkListenLearn ([link removed]) . The campaign encourages adults to have a conversation about the online world with the young people in their lives, to help them make the most of the opportunities offered by the internet in a safe and positive way!
Sexting, Consent, and how to talk about them
Our Health Programme has also developed two really useful resources to support young people and youth workers:
‘Let’s Talk about Sexting ([link removed]) ’, is guide for those working with young people to start a conversation with young people on the topic of sexting.
The second resource, our ‘Coco’s Law - infographic ([link removed]) ’ will help you, or anyone working with young people, understand at a glance Coco’s Law – The Harassment, Harmful Communication and Related Offences Act. The infographic outlines h
ow Coco’s Law addresses the non-consensual sharing of intimate images and the offences created by this legislation.
There is lots more going on in this space which I'd like to update you on, including the 1,2,3 of online safety campaign ([link removed]) , but the main message is that we are working to support young people in a positive way to stay safe while getting the best out of the online world.
I'd love to hear your feedback on the resources above
John. If you have any questions or need further information, please feel free to get in touch,
Kind regards,
