keeping you up to date on all things Northeast Wisconsin The January NEWsflash Friend, Welcome back to the January edition of The NEWsflash, a collection of great stories from Northeast Wisconsin over the past month. To kick off 2022, my team and I visited everything from schools in the district, to the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center, and Bellin Hospital. Hearing from constituents and being with Northeast Wisconsinites was a great way to start the new year. I've included some photos and highlights from a few of the events my team and I were able to attend. You can also find information on how my office can help you with any federal problem you may have. As always, please don't hesitate to contact my office if we can ever be of assistance. Semper Fi, Clean Water Appreciation: I was proud to recognize Ty Larson with a Congressional Certificate of Appreciation for his leadership as the facilitator of the Save the Bay Upper Fox/Wolf Watershed Workgroup. Ty has spent many hours guiding and supporting the Save the Bay initiative, and his dedication and expertise has been a tremendous asset to me over the years. Thank you for all your work, Ty! Class on Congress: I also stopped at Holy Spirit Catholic School this month to meet with students that lost their classmate to cancer. I was touched when the class wrote to me about funding for cancer research, and spoke with them about their letters and ways we can work to take action to better treat childhood cancer. It was amazing to see young students engage with Congress, and I hope to hear from them in the future! Growing in Green Bay: My staff had the opportunity to tour Fiberglass Solutions in Ashwaubenon who just completed a massive expansion of their facility. The business is family owned and operated by the Bertrams, who were born and raised in Wisconsin. It's great to see family businesses in our area that are making an impact on our community. Concentrating on Creativity: I also got the chance to tour the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center and got a behind the scenes look at the great work they do for the creative community here. Supporting music, dance, theatre and so much more, this cultural center is such a bright spot in our community. Attending one of the many shows they are offer is a great way to support artists in Northeast Wisconsin. Supporting Security: I also met with the team at Ducommun, a company that provides manufacturing and engineering solutions for the aerospace, defense and industrial markets. It was a great chance to thank the dedicated men and women there who work everyday to support our nation's security and defense. Fresh Baked Business: On January 11, my team attended the "Breadcutting" for the brand new Voyageurs Bakehouse location in Appleton. They have everything from delicious coffee to fresh baked sourdough, and are available for catering, pre-orders, and delivery. It's a great addition to the Appleton community. Navy Green to Bellin Blue: I also had the opportunity to visit with a team of Navy medical personnel who are lending a helping hand to Bellin Hospital this month. The group consists of 23 doctors, nurses and respiratory therapists who are helping treat patients. I'm grateful to them and everyone working at Bellin hospital for their work to keep our community healthy. Starting STEM : To usher in the new year, NEW Lutheran High School cut the ribbon on their 9,000 square foot STEM and music education addition. In their new addition, students will be able to learn about exciting new technology like 3-D printing. It's a great way to encourage STEM education and spark interest in tech-related career paths in the future. Choosing Education: To close out the month, my team attended School Choice Wisconsin's celebration of National School Choice Week at Lambeau Field. It was a great way to learn, collaborate and brainstorm with each other to better Wisconsin's education system statewide. Other events from Northeast Wisconsin last month: New London Amazon driver leaves full-sized milk-bones with packages for family pets along his route Oshkosh student fundraising money for the American Heart Association in all 50 states A face to the name of firefighter who helped save Appleton woman and dogs Packers' Myers helps donate supplies to Green Bay elementary school REMINDER: If you're experiencing issues with a federal agency, my office is here to help.
