Here's your update for the week! Indivisibles,
Justice Breyer has announced his impending retirement from the Supreme Court after serving for nearly 30 years. Almost 2 years ago, President Biden made a promise that he would nominate the first Black woman to the Supreme Court, and with Justice Breyer’s recent retirement announcement, he can now make good on his promise. Click here to read about three potential nominees who Biden might choose to replace Justice Breyer.
In recent times, the Supreme Court has become a place where Republican-led states have challenged many landmark decisions protecting reproductive rights, workers rights, and environmental protections. These attacks on our most basic human rights disproportionately affect Black women and women of color. That’s why President Biden’s announcement is extremely important, and we need to make sure he makes good on this promise.
With that, here are your weekly to-dos:
Your weekly to-dos
- If you have a Democratic senator, click here to call them and demand that they speak out publicly and remind Biden of his commitment. President Biden has committed to nominating the first Black woman to the Supreme Court to be Justice Breyer's replacement, and we need to ensure he moves quickly in this process -- it took just 8 days for Trump to nominate Amy Coney Barrett, and we cannot risk any delays or setbacks.
- If you have a Republican senator (or no senators at all!), click here to call the White House comment line and remind Biden of his commitment yourself. There is so much at stake here, and we need to make sure that Justice Breyer’s legacy is upheld through his replacement.
- Call your members of Congress (MoCs) and tell them NO MORE RECESSES until they vote YES on Build Back Better! The Senate did not pass the Build Back Better Act (BBB) before the end of 2021 as Democrats had promised. This is unacceptable. Call them now, and tell them you demand action!
P.S. -- We’re able to fund the ads, call scripts, and tools because of the generous support of grassroots donors, particularly recurring donors whose support we can count on every month. If you’re able, click here to make a recurring or one-time gift to help fund our work.

Heather, an indivisible Group Leader from Grapevine, TX has created a campaign for Congregation Beth Israel after the terrifying hostage situation that happened a few weeks ago. “Hearts for Congregation Beth Israel” is Heather’s project to flood the congregation with hearts from around the country, letting Congregation Beth Israel know that we are sending our love, and we stand with them. Be a part of this movement of love! It’s easy and everyone can join in! Make a paper heart, any size, any color, any paper. Write a brief message of love and, if you like, share your town, state or province to show there’s love everywhere. Let’s show this wonderful community that they are not alone and very loved.
