Jim Worthington — owner of the Newtown Athletic Club and major donor to Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick who helped bus hundreds of Trump supporters to the “Stop the Steal” rally that turned into a violent insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021 — is now going after Ashley after she spoke out against a gun show being held at his business in Newtown.

While he’s postponing the gun show, he posted the following on Facebook in direct response to Ashley’s statement at the Newtown Board of Supervisors meeting:

Then, he went on a right-wing podcast, calling Ashley a “wannabe Congresswoman” and declaring, “I’m not gonna stand for it. If that’s gonna be her platform, to run on January 6, God help her… They picked on the wrong guy. They’re making a big mistake.”

John, we know the truth. Worthington has admitted that he attended and helped bring busloads of people to Trump’s "Stop the Steal" rally in D.C. that led to the Jan. 6 insurrection.

He even bragged that when the FBI showed up at his house to question his involvement, “his girlfriend answered the door with a weapon in hand,” according to a Rolling Stone article focused on Brian Fitzpatrick’s ties to Worthington.

Ashley is a combat veteran who served our country overseas. Unlike Fitzpatrick, she won’t stand for the dangerous lies about the 2020 election or the attacks on our democracy, and is committed to holding those responsible for the deadly Jan. 6 insurrection accountable.
