Today, as the Supreme Court considers President Trump’s disturbing attempt to end the DACA program, I am proud to say that I stand fully and unequivocally with Dreamers.
Here in Nevada and across the country, Dreamers represent some of the best and brightest in our communities. It is absolutely unacceptable that President Trump is doing everything he can to stand in the way of their dreams and send them away from the only country they know.
In the Senate, I have helped to introduce legislation to protect Dreamers’ confidentiality and ensure their identities aren’t revealed to immigration authorities. I’ve also worked to change our laws to allow Dreamers to dedicate their careers to public service by serving in jobs on Capitol Hill.
And I am proud to be on the frontlines of the urgent battle to join the Democratic-led House and pass a bill in the Senate that will permanently protect Dreamers from being deported.
Because we don’t need to wait for a Supreme Court decision, team -- Congress has both the power and the responsibility to take meaningful action to reform our laws and stand with nearly a million Dreamers who call this country home.
