I am thrilled to write to you today with the news that on Friday, the Democratic House passed the America COMPETES Act.
Indiana’s First Congressional District is home to our nation’s most robust manufacturing, steel, and industrial workforces. Here in Northwest Indiana, we can compete with any other industrial workforce in the world — but only if we are operating on a level playing field.
This Act is historic in its defense of American workers, and its potential to help our regional economy compete and perform at its very best.
But team, the America COMPETES Act only passed because of the Democratic House majority.
The America COMPETES Act will help our nation to recover from supply chain disruptions, to build more American-made semiconductors, and to defend against illegally traded goods. But as always, there is more work to be done.
I was proud to vote for this bill, and I am honored to have your support as we work to create a stronger Northwest Indiana together.
