Join Atlanta DSA's #FightFor15 launch canvass on Saturday 2/12 at 10:00 AM at Brownwood Park! We'll be knocking doors, talking to neighbors about why working Georgians deserve a $15 minimum wage, and sharing resources on workplace organizing.

Please wear a mask and bring a friend. Make sure to download the free MiniVAN canvassing app (Google Play, App Store) ahead of time. Water and snacks will be provided! No experience needed.

On April 1, 2021, roughly 1,100 UMWA coal miners at Warrior Met Coal in Brookwood, Alabama, went on an unfair labor practices strike over Warrior Met’s refusal to negotiate a contract renewal in good faith. The miners have been on strike for 10 months now, with January 26, 2022, marking Day 300 of the strike. DSA stands in unyielding support of the mineworkers of Brookwood in their strike!

Join DSA chapters from across the Southern U.S. for a strike support fundraiser and panel discussion in support of the UMWA miners strike in Brookwood, Alabama.

The panel will feature UMWA miners currently on strike, Haeden Wright (President of the UMWA Auxiliary), Jacob Morrison (host of The Valley Labor Report, a union talk radio show in Alabama), and Kim Kelly (labor journalist and author of forthcoming labor history book, "Fight Like Hell"). Join us on Tuesday, February 8th at 7pm EST on Zoom!

A coalition of groups are protesting in Downtown Decatur this Wednesday, February 9th to demand the government house the unhoused. They'll meet at the corner of Commerce and Trinity at 4pm and stay until 6pm. Please bring hand warmers, blankets (mylar and wool), and socks to donate!

Wondering how to plan a canvass? Join us on February 21, 2022 at 6:00 pm for our virtual "Canvassing 101" workshop. We will explore how to engage in community outreach, have political conversations, and set up a canvass.

Want to hit the ground organizing in the new year? Want to get together with other workers to learn how to build stronger unions? Fight the winter (and everything else) blues to build power at work, and join this organizing series to talk about how to rekindle the flame of rank-and-file militancy. The training series, which is based on the book Secrets of a Successful Organizer will be Tuesdays, February 8, 15, and 22, 7:00-9:00 PM and has three parts:

Democratic Socialists of America calls for the immediate release of political prisoner Leonard Peltier (Anishinaabe/Dakota) from the United States Penitentiary, Coleman, in Florida. Mr. Peltier is 77 years old and has been incarcerated by the United States Government for over 46 years, suffering under the interdependent cruelties of the settler-colonialist state and the prison-industrial complex.

We stand in solidarity with the indigenous elected officials of the National Caucus of Native American State Legislators, including DSA member Ruth Buffalo, North Dakota State Representative from District 27, in their call for the immediate release of Leonard Peltier through the granting of clemency by President Joe Biden.
