In America, prescription drugs are often unaffordable for people living on a fixed income. Hearing aids are too expensive. Quality home care is not available to those who need it. Senior centers and Meals on Wheels programs need to be modernized to meet the needs of today's older adults. On top of all that, too many seniors who want or need to work can't get the supports required to stay independent.
These proposals have strong bipartisan support from people of all ages, but without your support they could be left behind:
- Medicare improvements to reduce the cost of prescription drugs and provide new coverage for hearing aids
- A significant expansion in home care services so that older Americans can avoid going into a nursing homes, and home care workers can receive decent wages and benefits
- Support for modernizing senior centers and nutrition services
- Increased access to job training and placement for low-income older workers struggling to find new employment
