Fellow Illinoisan,
Health insurance under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is officially open for business.
Open enrollment for 2020 health plans under the ACA has now begun and will run through December 15. If you need health insurance for next year, it’s vital to make sure you enroll soon.
Illinoisans can enroll by calling 1-800-318-2596 or by going to www.healthcare.gov.
DURBIN: THE ACA IS OPEN FOR BUSINESS
Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, 20 million Americans gained health insurance - including more than one million people in Illinois. Gone are the days when health insurers could charge people with pre-existing conditions higher premiums, or even deny them coverage altogether. Insurers are no longer allowed to put annual or lifetime caps on benefits, charge women more than men for health insurance, or make older Americans pay significantly higher premiums than younger people.
Thanks to the ACA, children can stay on their parents’ health plans until age 26, and insurance companies are required to cover important health care - such as hospitalizations, prescription drugs, maternal/newborn health care, and mental health and substance abuse treatment.
So, let’s get Illinois covered for 2020! Go to www.healthcare.gov to sign up for a health plan under the ACA today.
Sincerely,
U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL)
