Another one of Trump’s scams just caught up with him.
I’m not talking about the Trump-GOP tax scam or even his $25 million settlement for Trump University’s defrauding of its students.[1] This latest legal settlement centers around The Donald J. Trump Foundation, which Trump and his family have now admitted to illegally using for personal and political gain.
Over a year ago, Americans for Tax Fairness joined allies in demanding the IRS Commissioner investigate the Trump family’s use of their foundation as a slush fund.
Now, in a legal settlement, approved by a State Supreme Court Justice in Manhattan, the Trump family admits to illegally misusing foundation funds including illegal coordination between the Trump presidential campaign and the foundation to further Trump’s political interests. The president had to cough up a $2 million fine and (get this!) admit to personally misusing Trump Foundation funds. Can you picture that?[2]
Trump has now admitted to cheating tax laws through his “charity.” What other tax laws is he violating?!
Americans for Tax Fairness is holding Donald Trump (and his children) accountable for their illegal actions that violate our tax laws.

In order to hold Trump accountable for all of his illegal financial dealings, it will take Congress requesting and securing Trump’s personal and business tax returns. Only then will we understand the full extent to which Trump and his family abuse our tax laws.
To add to the personal embarrassment of this latest legal settlement, “the Trump children had to undergo compulsory training to ensure this type of illegal activity never takes place again,” according to New York Attorney General Letitia James.[2]
Among the illegal activities of the Trump Foundation was a fundraiser held in 2016, reportedly for veterans’ causes, which the judge ruled was intended “to further Mr. Trump’s political campaign.”[3]
The funds raised at the event, which were supposed to be tax-deductible non-profit contributions, were ultimately controlled by the Trump campaign, violating both campaign and tax laws.
