Thank you so much for joining us at the Capitol or contacting your legislators last week regarding the special session to address gun violence. We had a huge turnout: Hundreds of concerned Wisconsinites gathered to express the will of the people to pass lifesaving gun legislation

Unfortunately, to thuggish politicians like Scott Fitzgerald and Robin Vos, "the will of the people" is meaningless. So, we intend to give them a civics lesson in the coming weeks and months -- and you can help us!

Citizens from all around the state went to the Capitol last week to practice democracy and to insist that the will of 80% of Wisconsinites becomes law in our state. GOP leaders Fitzgerald and Vos, however, refused to face us. Rather than showing up for the scheduled 2:00 pm special session, legislators failed to do the job for which they were elected. They waited until we, their constituents, went home before quickly gaveling in and out late at night -- without allowing a vote or even a debate on these lifesaving bills. We can't let them get away with this.

This cowardly act of the Senate Leader and Assembly Speaker will not slow us down, though. We are fired-up now more than ever to get these bills passed. If you are outraged and motivated, too, please donate to our Power to the People special fund in their names.
