SBA SUCCESS STORY
DEON NORALS, PRESIDENT & CEO
iHEALTH INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS, INC
Deon Norals of iHealth Innovative Solutions, Inc.
?
*Connecting the Dots, Bridging the Gaps*
Deon Norals owns and operates iHealth Innovative Solutions, a HUBZone-certified health information technology company located in the heart of Washington, D.C. iHealth Innovative Solutions leverages the latest developments in health information technology and health intelligence to help clients not only improve their business performance but also optimize patient care outcomes through equitable and inclusive service delivery practices. During the first months of the pandemic, iHealth struggled to find diverse workers whose experience and interests aligned with healthcare IT. The need was great, but where was the workforce that could deliver on the company's vital mission?
To address this challenge, Deon turned to the SBA for its business development programs and counseling services. In addition to becoming an Emerging Leaders participant, he met one-on-one with a SCORE mentor. Such experiences helped Deon and his team develop strategic partnerships with Howard University and Alabama A&M University, creating a pipeline of professional opportunities for students interested in addressing race-related health disparities through research, science, and technology.
According to Deon, "The SBA and its resources have been and continue to be instrumental to the success of iHealth." He specifically mentions SCORE for having "provided a resilient resource for training and remote mentoring that has helped our business to adapt and succeed." As a result, iHealth can continue delivering on its corporate strengths, including its innovation and drive to anticipate, prevent, detect, and respond to global issues -- all of which has allowed the company to maintain its competitive advantage. Deon also credits the SBA's business development programs and SCORE for helping his company advance the interests of the communities of color whom they serve. He adds, "Our resulting investments into research, employee training, and strategic partnerships have created a transformation around how we help agencies and organizations achieve their mission.?
