Hi John,

It’s terrifying to consider candidates like Bianca Gracia, former President of Latinos For Trump, and Heidi St. John, MAGA podcaster, ever becoming elected officials.

But that’s the risk we’re facing during this year’s midterm election.

That’s why I wanted to reach out to you again. We really could use your help investing in the Center for Freethought Equality’s electoral efforts.

One piece of good news: any gift now, early in the year, will make an outsized impact on the outcome of this November’s election.

Will you make a contribution of any amount - $10, $25, $40 - and help us put forward sane, secular champions who will defend our constitutional rights to live free from religion? >> [link removed]

I’ve been working in politics for a long time, and looking at these candidates reinforces just how critical our work will be this year.

Thanks in advance for your generosity and support, it makes a big difference.

Ron

In a signal for how extreme Republican candidates will be during this year’s elections, two radical Christian Nationalists just announced their candidacy.

Bianca Gracia, former President of Latinos For Trump, announced she’s running for the TX state Senate, proclaiming that God had called her to take her “rightful place” in the state capitol and “make the devil run.” At the same event, she taunted Nancy Pelosi to invite her to the Capitol, so she could bring a “whole bunch of pastors” to “perform an exorcism there.”

And in WA, to seek retribution for Republican Jaime Herrera Beutler’s vote to impeach Trump, Heidi St. John launched her bid for U.S. Congress. Speaking on her podcast, St. John described politics as a “spiritual battle” and vowed to “bring back the name of God into the political sphere.”

This is just the start. As Christian Nationalists continue to organize and push deranged theists to pursue elected office, candidates like Gracia and St. John will become more common. Once elected, we can be sure they’ll inject religion into our government, to restrict the rights of women, LGBTQ+ people, religious minorities, and the nonreligious.

We’re fighting back, to put forward sane, secular champions who will uphold America’s democratic processes and defend our constitutional rights to live free from religion.

Contribute any amount - $15, $25, or $50 - and help the Center for Freethought Equality recruit and support secular champions who will fight back against Trump’s acolytes. >>[link removed]

Candidates like Gracia and St. John rarely existed even just a decade ago, and when they did run, they were fringe candidates who never got far. But Trump energized Christian Nationalists, which led to candidates like Marjorie Taylor Greene who endorsed political violence to not only run but win seats in the U.S. Congress.

One of the most important things you can do to stop these forces from securing more electoral power is to contribute to our election-year efforts.

I promise we’ll make the most of your generosity, to find, recruit and support secular champions who will strengthen democratic processes, defend the separation of church and state, and fight back against efforts to misuse religion to harm people.

And because we’re a small team, every contribution makes a big difference.

Thank you for your support during this critical election year.
