John,
We’ve been looking through Speaker Pelosi’s most recent Federal Election Commission fundraising report.
There are the usual PAC contributions from weapons manufacturers, drug makers, telecom conglomerates, internet monopolies, and agricultural giants.
What really stands out in the report, though, is that Pelosi’s re-election committee from April through June spent $644,315 on operating expenses.
It’s crystal clear from this FEC filing that Pelosi’s strategy is to simply buy public opinion. The Speaker spent $117,200 last quarter on digital advertising through a single DC firm, and another $120,000 (in what look like $30,000 retainer payments) on social media amplification.
Our grassroots campaign doesn’t take money from corporate PACs and nor would they give it to us. Like Bernie, we rely on YOU to be our media. And when you activate, amazing things happen. Today, one local paper reported on how you helped our campaign raise nearly $40,000 in average $20 contributions just in the first two weeks of this month!
We know that people speak louder than corporate money - that our voices lifted together for change have a power greater than any investment banker’s max-out check at a Pelosi party.
Let’s do this.
