Friends -
Ron Johnson's first television ad from his 2016 campaign was a spot about the importance of creating jobs in Wisconsin.
He did it from a factory floor in Oshkosh.
Six years later, Ron Johnson now says we have enough jobs in Wisconsin, and that he won’t lift a finger to ensure the new postal trucks are built in Wisconsin.
Here’s the backstory:
Oshkosh Defense – located in Ron Johnson’s hometown – won a $6 billion contract to build the next generation of postal vehicles. This would mean nearly one thousand good, well-paying, union jobs here in Wisconsin.
But the company wants to move production to a non-union plant in South Carolina to save money.
Ron Johnson’s response — literally — was to say: "It’s not like we don’t have enough jobs here in Wisconsin."
It’s a perfect example of why Ron Johnson has overstayed his welcome and should have stuck to his term-limit pledge.
So today, we'd like to ask you to do something important to show where you stand on this issue:
Mandela's dad was a UAW member for 30 years, so he understands firsthand how important these jobs are.
These are the kind of jobs that do more than just put food on the table. They give families a chance to afford good health care, save for the future, even send their kids to college.
Wisconsinites deserve a Senator who is on their side, not on the side of corporations who want to take away their jobs.
Mandela is prepared to stand up for the middle class, and he’ll never stop fighting for good jobs and opportunities for everyone in Wisconsin. And today is an important day to show you are with him in that effort.
Thank you,
Team Mandela
