Friend,
We’re getting ready to launch our second Rooted in Community Campaign School to train progressive candidates the essentials to run for office and WIN!
Trainings will take place over 5 weekends in February and March and are completely free to participants. Here’s what Roslyn M. Ogburn, a 2021 Campaign School Alumni said about her experience:
“The Rooted in Community Training was like no other training I have experienced, bringing a holistic touch along with reviewing and exemplifying what really being rooted in our community today actually looks like. Every leader seeking a higher role and doing the work in our neighborhoods should be in this training with this dynamic team!”
Can you help fund this free Campaign School, which is providing values-based candidates with the tools they need to run campaigns at all levels of government—with a focus on training women of color, Black, Indigenous, and other candidates of color? Pitch in today!

Friend,
As the first Muslim woman elected to the Michigan State Legislature and one of the first Muslim women elected to Congress, my whole career has been about breaking down barriers—and then keeping the doors wide open behind me for more progressive people to follow.
I helped elect the first Latina to the Detroit City Council and the first Asian-American woman to Michigan’s state house. And in the past few years I’ve been proud to make change happen through partnerships with other women policymakers.
Now, through my Rooted in Community Leadership PAC, we’re preparing to launch our second Campaign School—a free opportunity for progressive candidates who are ready to change the political landscape and WIN!
We’re providing values-based candidates with the tools they need to run campaigns on all levels of government—with a focus on training women of color, Black, Indigenous, and other candidates of color.
Our Campaign School launches in just three weeks and we need the resources to bring this free, 5 week training to as many progressive candidates as possible. Can you pitch in $5 today to fund our 2022 Rooted in Community Campaign School?
These virtual campaign trainings will take place over 5 Saturdays in February and March and teach campaign basics including communications, fundraising, and voter outreach, and dive into the issues confronting our communities.
In 2020, we held our inaugural Rooted in Community Campaign School and two of our graduates went on to run and WIN their races for Detroit City Council. We’re working to train candidates of color and candidates from other marginalized communities who want to represent their cities, including Black, Muslim, and Asian American women.
Can you pitch in today to fund our free Rooted in Community Campaign School to train the candidates of the future today?
